Superstar Rema returned to Coachella’s Mojave stage for Weekend 2, delivering a performance that effectively silenced critics of his earlier set. His first Coachella outing was, to put it mildly, a misfire. Scheduled for a 45-minute set, he appeared nearly 30 minutes late, leaving his DJ and band to awkwardly fill time while the audience grew restless. When he finally emerged, the performance was marred by noticeable lip-syncing, abrupt pauses, and an overall lack of cohesion. The set ended abruptly, leaving attendees confused and disappointed. However, this time, Rema took the stage promptly and with renewed vigour. Gone was the sluggish pacing and uncharacteristic hesitance. In its place was a sharpened, more urgent Rema, an artist fully attuned to the magnitude of the moment. Opening with the buoyant global hit “Calm Down,” he quickly dissolved any lingering doubts, his presence markedly more engaged, his vocals more assured.

Emerging on top of a fake mountain and holding a sword, he opened with “Amazan” and “Yayo,” setting a strong tone from the start. The dramatic entrance, reportedly cut from the previous week due to time issues, helped kick off a much more polished and energetic show.

Rema moved through his set with confidence, performing hits like “Calm Down,” “Charm,” and “Bout U.” He engaged with the audience more, even dedicating a moment to “the beautiful girls” before launching into his verse on “Favourite Girl.”

One of the biggest issues with the first performance was how scattered it felt. There were awkward pauses, and Rema didn’t seem fully in sync with the moment. Weekend 2 corrected all of that. The set flowed better, the transitions were cleaner, and the energy stayed high throughout. This time, Rema corrected course without overcompensating.
