The Metropolitan Museum of Art rolled out its most stylish carpet on Monday, May 5th, 2025, for the annual fundraising gala celebrating the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition: Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. This year’s theme zoomed in on the legacy of Black menswear: how sharp tailoring, lush fabrics, and personal flair have always been statements of identity, resistance, and joy in the Black diaspora.

The vibe was high culture with even higher stakes. Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams led as co-chairs, while LeBron James, who served as honorary chair, missed out due to injury. Between a guest list stacked with cultural heavyweights and a red carpet designed by artist Cy Gavin, the night was a curated celebration of Black style, start to finish.
