The Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 68th annual Grammy Awards on Friday, November 7, 2025. Davido, Tyla, and Ayra Starr were all nominated in the Best African Music Performance category.

South African artist Tyla, who won the inaugural award in 2024 for “Water,” received a nomination for her song “PUSH 2 START.” Ayra Starr collected a nomination for “Gimme Dat,” her collaboration with Wizkid. Davido received a nod for “With You,” featuring Omah Lay.

The other nominees in the Best African Music Performance category are Burna Boy for “Love” and Eddy Kenzo & Mehran Matin for “Hope & Love.” Burna Boy is also nominated in the Best Global Music Album for No Sign of Weakness. This is the African Giant’s 11th career nomination.

This is the second career Grammy nomination for both Tyla and Ayra Starr, whose 2024 nod for “Rush” established her as a critical favourite. For Davido, this recognition for “With You” marks his fifth nomination, following his 2024 triple-nomination sweep for Timeless and a 2025 nod for his feature on Chris Brown’s “Sensational.” His inclusion feels particularly resonant, as it comes just months after he was officially inducted as a voting member of the Recording Academy.

Beyond the contemporary categories, the legendary Angélique Kidjo also garnered recognition, earning a nomination for Best Global Music Performance for her song “Jerusalema.” Kidjo, a five-time Grammy winner, continues her role as one of the continent’s most decorated cultural figures.

In the general field, Kendrick Lamar led all artists with nine nominations. His album GNX is nominated for Album of the Year, and his single “Luther” is nominated for Record of the Year.

The field of top-nominated artists behind him includes pop mainstays Lady Gaga and super-producers Cirkut and Jack Antonoff, who each trail with seven nominations. Bad Bunny, Leon Thomas, and Sabrina Carpenter also had a strong showing, each earning six nominations.

Taylor Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl, released in October, was not nominated as it was released after the eligibility window closed on August 30, 2025.

The 68th Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for February 1, 2026.
