Asake has once again expanded the boundaries of how Afrobeats is experienced globally. After staging an intimate performance of his highly acclaimed album M$NEY in London on Sunday, June 21, the Afrobeats heavyweight has officially released M$NEY Live in London (Spotify Live), an exclusive concert film and live album presented by Spotify.

Asake – ‘M$NEY Live in London (Spotify Live)’

Available from today exclusively on the streaming platform, the release captures the singer’s first-ever live performance of his fourth studio album, M$NEY, with four additional new tracks, an intro and outro that further extend the project’s sonic universe. More than a live recording, the release represents one of Spotify’s most ambitious music film projects to date and marks the platform’s first concert film featuring an African artist.

Originally recorded at London’s historic Theatre Royal Drury Lane during an invite-only event, the performance brought together close to 2000 audiences including some of Asake’s top Spotify listeners, for a one-night-only experience.

Backed by a live orchestra, a 40-person choir, and the renowned live band The Compozers, Asake transformed M$NEY from the traditional studio release into a theatrical production, giving hits from the project new emotional depth while preserving the energetic delivery that has become synonymous with his performances.

The performance was particularly significant because it marked the first time Asake had performed songs from M$NEY live since the album debuted in May. Aside from performing the records on stage, the 2x Grammy-nominated singer also unveiled four unreleased songs, and an outro rewarding attendees with exclusive previews that have now become part of the newly released live project. The new tracks including “Ego,” “Ako” and “Psycho” are produced by SAK PASE, P.Priime, Blaisbeats, and Magicsticks.

The release arrives as M$NEY continues to cement itself as one of the defining African albums of the year. The album has enjoyed strong commercial success since its release, topping charts across multiple markets while further establishing Asake’s evolution following the launch of his independent imprint, Giran Republic, in partnership with EMPIRE.

Beyond the music itself, M$NEY Live in London signals Spotify’s growing investment in premium visual experiences for global artists. The film joins a catalogue of exclusive live productions from international acts including Bad Bunny, Olivia Rodrigo and Skye Newman, positioning Asake among a select group of artists whose performances have been transformed into exclusive streaming events. Spotify also commemorated the release with a private premiere screening at its recently opened Listening Lounge in central London.

For Asake, the project reinforces his reputation as an artist whose ambitions increasingly stretch beyond traditional album releases. By pairing a live album with a cinematic concert film and expanding the original project with new music, M$NEY Live in London becomes more than a documentation of a performance—it serves as an extension of the M$NEY era itself.

As Afrobeats continues to command bigger stages and wider audiences around the world, releases like this continue to establish that the genre’s future will be defined not solely by chart success but also by the scale and creativity of the experiences built around its music. The M$NEY Live in London concert film and live album are exclusively available on Spotify.
