The fifth and final night of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 10 reunion on Friday wrapped up with former housemates attempting to clear misconceptions and settle lingering grievances, though not all of them succeeded.

Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu opened the night by asking former housemates whose romantic “ships” had capsized to reflect on what went wrong, but the session quickly evolved into a broader airing of grievances, culminating in a near-physical altercation between Mensan and Denari.

Isabella, Koyin, and Kayikunmi

Isabella addressed the sequence of events that followed Kayikunmi’s eviction, saying she never anticipated a future with Koyin and that their connection was simply a product of being in a confined space. “I was not shopping for a man, it just happened,” she said.

Koyin traced the beginning of his situationship with Isabella to Bare Minimum week, when a dare to kiss her set things in motion. He maintained that he was always transparent about the limits of the relationship and moved quickly to communicate publicly that there was no future in it, not wanting fans to invest emotionally in something he knew would not last. Isabella said the public declaration stung. “He said ‘no future’ publicly and knowing how fans can take statements like that, I felt bad about it,” she said. The two eventually reconciled.

Kayikunmi, meanwhile, said he felt he had been subjected to a double standard. He was cast as a villain for accepting Thelma Lawson’s invitation to serve as Head of House guest, yet Isabella had moved on to Koyin almost immediately after his eviction. “Koyin was the last person I expected her to move to,” he said, adding that, in hindsight, there had been signs.

Rooboy and Thelma

The conversation between Rooboy and Thelma was the most combative of the night’s romantic post-mortems and ended without resolution.

Rooboy insisted he had been upfront about his interest from day one and pointed to deliberate gestures — writing a letter to mark Thelma’s son’s birthday and accepting Otega’s counsel to dance with her — as evidence of his sincerity. His frustration peaked during the wager task, when he pushed himself through a music challenge he felt unprepared for, only to later hear, through Mide, that Thelma had been disparaging him.

Otega confirmed he had been encouraging Rooboy to pursue Thelma and was unaware she had feelings for him until the night before his eviction. A fight in the house had revealed that Thelma liked only Otega, Kaybobo, and Kola among the male housemates. “I didn’t have feelings for her,” Otega said, adding that he pulled Thelma aside that night to tell her that her admission put him in an awkward position with Rooboy.

Thelma was unapologetic. She said she had been clear with Rooboy from the outset that she was not in the house for romance and was put off early when he asked personal questions, including about her child’s father, within 24 hours of meeting her. She said his persistence forced her to be blunt. “You’re not the kind of man I want around my son… You couldn’t spell… You are too loud,” she told Rooboy on the reunion stage, adding that she took issue with his appearance, including his tattoos. She also alleged that after she rejected him, Rooboy assembled people who disliked her to speak against her. He denied this.

Kola vs Dede

The Kola-Dede dynamic, which had already been tense during earlier nights of the reunion, showed no signs of softening by the final episode.

Kola pushed back against what he described as Dede’s attempt to portray him as someone who had chased her. “I never pulled her to a toilet to speak to her. I never invited her to my house. I never chased her outside the house,” he said. He also took issue with a comment Dede made in the car ride from the house to the hotel, when she admired his mother’s Chanel bag. “I found that very materialistic,” he said.

Dede denied fabricating stories and disputed the materialism charge. “Baby, I have a Chanel bag,” she said, clarifying that Kola had spent so much time in the house praising his mother’s taste that she was simply reacting to finally meeting her. Kola was unconvinced. “You are just very materialistic,” he repeated. Dede shot back: “Do you have materials to give? No.”

She also expressed anger at clips of him speaking negatively about her to other housemates while projecting a different disposition to her face. “It was Dede to everybody in the house,” she said. When Kola accused her of performing for her fans, she replied simply: “Kisses.”

Clearing misconceptions

Ebuka opened the floor for housemates to address false narratives, and several took the opportunity.

Doris denied that she had attacked Imisi, saying Imisi had come at her first. “She brought her brush towards me and I met her with the same energy,” she said.

Joanna confronted Denari over a post-show interview in which he said she had withheld food from him. “I don’t understand. Am I your wife?” she asked. Denari clarified that the comment came in response to a question from Ebuka post-show about who he would not be friends with outside the house. “She was intentionally unkind to me, I don’t know why. The day she finally showed me an act of kindness, I was scared,” he said. The exchange ended without resolution.

Isabella also confronted Denari, reminding him that she had allowed him to stay in her home before they entered the house, and asking why he had repaid that kindness with disparaging comments on the show. Denari apologised, saying irritation had driven him to say things that amounted to slander and that he would not repeat them.

The most volatile moment of the night came when Mensan addressed Denari over a separate slight. Mensan said he had cut Denari’s hair for free, only to see footage of Denari going immediately to his housemate girlfriend, Doris, to question why she had given Mensan food. “When have I done anything bad or said anything bad about you?” Mensan asked, getting a negative answer from Denari. “I just finished cutting his hair and he went upstairs to ask why Doris gave me food. Was that kind? The hair I gave you, did you pay for it?” Denari argued that Mensan had no claim to food from his girl because Mensan had not shared food prepared by his friend Ivatar with Denari. The argument escalated until both men squared up and had to be physically restrained from coming to blows. Mensan removed one of his shoes before order was restored.

Sultana also sought to know why Bright Morgan and Kola did not like her. Bright Morgan told her that Kuture had played both sides of their relationship, telling him that Sultana liked him and telling Sultana that Bright liked her. Kola said his own friction with Sultana stemmed from Imisi telling him that Sultana had accused him of using her. Sultana accepted both explanations.

Disqualified housemate Faith challenged the group for making negative comments about him in the house after his exit, saying it contradicted the kindness he had shown them in the house. “After the disqualification, some of you had some very interesting things to say about me. That was very weird to me,” he said. Isabella disputed his characterisation of himself as purely kind. Big Soso backed her up, alleging that Faith, during his time as Head of House, had come to her to ask her not to give food to Imisi. “You frustrated people, Faith,” she insisted.

Kaybobo rejected the narrative that he had been a bad friend to Imisi, saying friendships involve conflict. Thelma also pushed back against claims that she looked down on Imisi, saying the classism label was unfair. Imisi also strongly rejected suggestions by Faith that she had sexually harassed him, saying nothing could be farther from the truth. 

Ebuka’s closing words

Wrapping up what he described as ten years of hosting the reunion, Ebuka noted that this edition had produced fewer apologies than any previous season.

“I have always said this for the last decade: I’m not pushing for anybody to be friends, but I think a lot of you can be cordial. It feels like being cordial is seen as a weakness. Being the person who says, ‘Are we okay?’ becomes a talking point. For people who lived together for so long, how does it get to the point where even a ‘hi’ means ‘I won’? Not everything has to be a competition about who is winning and who is not,” he said.

He urged the housemates to resist the impulse to one-up each other and to stop interpreting every interaction as an attempt to take advantage. He closed by praising the cast for delivering an entertaining season, saying they rank among his top three BBNaija editions.

With auditions for Season 11 having wrapped in May 2026, the show is expected to return for its 11th edition in July.
