Nigerian superstar Tems continues her unstoppable rise, adding another win to her ever-growing list of accolades. She joins the list of honorees for the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards. Other honorees include Victoria Monét, Ice Spice, Kylie Minogue, Charli XCX.
Tems will be awarded the Breakthrough Award as a recognition of her meteoric rise in the global music scene. Her 2022 smash “WAIT FOR U” alongside Future and Drake, where she shone as a featured artist, brought her first Grammy last year in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category. This song further cemented her presence, reaching the #1 spot on the Hot 100. 2021 marked her first entry into the top 10 charts with the hit “Essence” alongside Wizkid and Justin Bieber.
She’s recognized as a co-writer for Rihanna’s chart-topping “Lift Me Up” from the blockbuster film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The song stormed the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #2, and now competes for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the Grammys. “Lift Me Up” also earned Tems and her collaborators an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song last year.
The ceremony, hosted by actress Tracee Ellis Ross, will take place on March 6th, 2024, in Los Angeles. It promises to be a night of celebration for Tems and all the other talented women who are shaping the music industry.
