FC Barcelona and Nigeria star, Asisat Oshoala has been nominated for the prestigious Socrates Award. Introduced by France Football last year, this accolade recognizes players for their exceptional charitable work beyond the realm of football. Oshoala’s nomination comes as a result of her efforts and contributions to philanthropy and community development.

Manchester United star Rashford is also up for the prize, which will be given out at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony, for his work helping feed children in the UK with the Child Food Poverty Task Force. Real Madrid duo Vinicius and Antonio Rudiger, and USWNT legend Morgan have been nominated for their efforts with their respective foundations.

Alongside her fellow nominees, Oshoala has been acknowledged for her dedication to making a positive impact off the pitch. Her work extends beyond the boundaries of football, as she has actively supported various charitable initiatives aimed at improving the lives of others.

The Socrates Award celebrates the selflessness and compassion demonstrated by players who use their platform and influence to address societal issues. Oshoala’s nomination not only recognizes her remarkable achievements as a footballer but also highlights her commitment to making a difference in the world.

While we eagerly await the announcement of the Ballon d’Or nominees in September, it is truly inspiring to see Oshoala recognized for her outstanding contributions, proving that her influence extends far beyond her performances on the field. She serves as a role model for aspiring footballers, showcasing the power of using one’s success to uplift and support others.

In addition to the Socrates Award, the football community also anticipates the announcement of the men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or nominees, as well as the contenders for the Puskas Award and Yacine Trophy. These honors recognize the best players, goals, and goalkeepers of the year, further adding to the excitement surrounding football’s prestigious awards season.
