Nigeria’s Gift Orban nominated for CAF Young Player of the Year award

Gift Orban joined KAA Gent from Stabaek Fotbal during the January transfer window and settled in quickly at the Belgian club.

Nigerian youngster, Gift Orban, who had a fantastic season with Gent of Belgium, is a candidate for the CAF Young Player of the Year award, which will be given out at the CAF Awards ceremony on December 11, 2023, in Morocco. Orban has been nominated along with eight other young African players due to his outstanding performance.

 

Since joining Gent in January 2023, Orban has showcased his prowess by netting 27 goals and contributing two assists in 38 appearances.  Prior to his move to Gent, the Super Eagles star had a successful stint with the Norwegian side Stabæk, amassing 19 goals and providing seven assists in 24 appearances.

 

 

Orban faces stiff competition in this category, with players like Dango Ouattara, Souleymane Alio, Ernest Nuamah, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Bilal El Khannouss, Lemine Camara, Papa Amadou Diallo, Pape Diop, and Amara Diouf also contending for the CAF Young Player of the Year award. Nevertheless, Orban’s nomination is a testament to his status as one of Africa’s most promising young talents.
