Nigerian wrestler Oba Femi has emerged winner of the WWE NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament. Femi’s brute force was no match for the athletic Chase U recruit Riley Osbourne. Osbourne did his best to outmaneuver the massive wrestler, but Femi drilled him into the canvas with a Powerbomb.

Femi is the first Men’s Breakout Tournament Winner since 2021, which was won by former WWE NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. Femi has come a long way from his debut victory over The Meta-Four’s Oro Mensah in April, winning the first match of the Breakout Tournament, and now the whole tournament in general.

Oba Femi, a former University of Alabama Shot Put athlete, had made an audacious statement during one of his post-fight interviews, addressing what he believes NXT is lacking. He asserted;

“NXT is lacking in one department severely. And that is the department of brute force. Nobody is brutal anymore. Everybody is soft. Everybody is determined. Everybody’s trying to get to the end by the soft means. But that is exactly what Oba Femi has to offer. That is exactly what I am bringing to the Men’s Breakout Tournament. Brute force.”

The Nigerian wrestler’s bold words ignited conversations among WWE fans, setting high expectations for his future.

The WWE NXT Breakout Tournament is a platform designed to unearth the next wrestling sensation who will elevate the franchise to new heights.

Hailing from Nigeria as Isaac Odugbesan, Oba Femi embodies the values of brilliance, tenacity, and strength that Nigerians are renowned for worldwide. Starting as an athlete who clinched numerous high school medals in Shot Put, he earned a student-athlete scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University.

From Athlete to WWE Prospect:

Oba Femi’s entrance into the WWE universe began when he was recruited as part of the inaugural class of the WWE Next In Line program in 2021. By August 2022, he joined NXT’s security team, marking his official affiliation with the wrestling powerhouse.
