Patoranking has shared the official music video for “No Jonze,” a powerful homage to the roots of Lagos street music. The track itself is a high-energy anthem built on the percussive, defiant rhythms of Galala, the genre that originated in the Ajegunle community. The song’s title, Lagos slang for “don’t slack” or “stay alert,” serves as a mantra for focus and self-worth.
Directed by Director K and shot in Ajegunle, the genre’s birthplace, the visual honors its setting, anchored by its respect for the genre’s pioneers. It features high-profile cameos from Galala legends Marvellous Benjy and Allen B, who Patoranking credits with paving the way. In a poignant visual centerpiece, a large mural displays the faces of other icons who defined the sound, including Daddy Showkey, Baba Fryo, African China, and the Danfo Drivers.
