Adeleke’s Early Years


Dublin-born Rhasidat Adeleke, with Nigerian heritage, has taken the athletics world by storm. Her exceptional talent was evident from a young age, as she dominated local tracks, leaving competitors in her wake.


Adeleke’s competitive debut came in 2017, securing a stunning junior sprint double at the Irish Schools championships. A year later, she announced herself on the senior stage, claiming her first major title at the national outdoor championships.


This was merely the launchpad for a meteoric rise. Records tumbled as Adeleke dominated internationally. In 2021, she secured a magnificent double gold at the European U20 Championships in Tallinn, conquering both the 100m and 200m races.

Despite narrowly missing a podium finish in the 400m final at the 2022 European Championships, Adeleke etched her name in Irish athletics history by setting a new national record of 50.53 seconds. Her stellar performances continued this year, contributing a crucial second leg in the 4x400m mixed relay at the European Championships, propelling Ireland to a coveted gold medal.
